We researched for and put together this chart/poster of cat breeds/lineages/ancestries. Usually, we design mythological family trees, but given our love for cats, we wanted to create a comprehensive family tree of cat trees. Curiously, we couldn't find too many charts of this online that we liked, so we decided to give it a shot ourselves!

It's formatted in a standard poster 16.5"x 23.4".
Should be able to print on a standard letter 8.5"x11", too.

The basic list of breeds that we chose to showcase are taken from cat shows and the official Cat Fanciers' Association: https://cfa.org/breeds/

Considering more ancient cat breeds and ancestors of modern cat breeds is more complicated, and takes a fair amount of archaeological and historical research, which we do extensively when creating mythology charts, as well.

We haven't included absolutely every breed, so if you have a breed that you wish we could add to the chart, please shoot us a message. Most of the lineages are based on the recorded or hypothetical 2 breeds that led to the first of any new breed. Many breeds have since mixed with one-another extensively, and had various other breeds mixed with them to stabilize their phenotypical traits.

We hope that this helps illuminate more people about the history and ancestry of their cats! We certainly learned a ton about cats, including our very own Taterz, who we think might be an American Longhair and Turkish Van mix!
